What is the best time for watering your lawn?
Most landscaping professionals agree that watering your lawn in the early morning is the best.
When talking about early morning, we're talking around 5:00 am!
Some may ask why is this the best time for watering your lawn?
Early morning watering is best since water evaporation is usually lowest at this time because of lower winds, high humidity and morning dew that adds to the moisture.
Also, early morning watering helps prevent lawn diseases, such as fungus growth, because your lawn has time to dry out before night fall.
Usually you can get by watering an established lawn and landscape. depending on the time of the season and the type of plants, every other day.
However, new lawns or landscape plantings will generally require watering at least once a day so seeds can germinate and to allow the formation of a good solid root system.
Generally, this will be anywhere from two to eight weeks, depending on the type of grass or plants and the season.
If you have recently fertilized your lawn, especially with a granular (dry) fertilizer, then you may want to water a little extra,
especially during dry and hot summer months.
This helps the fertilizer to take hold and prevent it from burning the plants.
To suppress the browning of the tips or crowns of the grass, it is recommended to water the day before you mow the lawn.
